Why this name?
Just an image we had in our heads; skeleton trees in the mist, whispers in the wind.
Do you play live?
We didn’t play any shows yet but we intend to do a few performances later on.
How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It changes everything in terms of distribution and it gives more exposure for independent bands.
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
My first instinct would be to say “no” but it would depend on the type of contract.
Your influences?
We have a lot of musical influences; Bands like Portishead, Goldfrapp, Stereolab, The Cure, Tangerine Dreams, The Legendary Pink Dots and Joy Division but also artists like Steve Reich, Terry Riley, Nico, Philip Glass, Klaus Schulze and Ennio Morricone.
We also have a lot of non-musical influences like movies; David Lynch, Jean Cocteau, Maya Deren, Alexandro Jodorowsky and comic books like Nel Gaiman’s Sandman.
Favorite spot?
I guess I will have to say Montreal! :0)
Equipment used?
We use a lot of real instruments (violins, 6-strings bass, electric guitars, etc) and keyboards (Roland JV-80, Korg MS-2000, E-MU e6400 sampler, Korg Symphony), the vocals were recorded with a Rode NT1 mic, the mix was done through a Yamaha 01V digital mixer and the main software used was Cakewalk Sonar.
Anything else…?
Well, Season of Mists is our first album and it took more than two years to produce. We are very proud of it! If you like conceptual albums, dreamy sounds, female vocals, cinematic music, audio experiments and ethereal music, you should give us a try!
